Welcome!
This website is dedicated to one of the best friends man could have, a Rottweiler! It is my hope that this website will dispel the negativity that surrounds this bread and show you how wonderful of a companion this dog can be for not only you but your entire family.
Basic Physical Description
Rottweilers are typically a medium to large size breed of dog with a muscular, massive, and powerful body. The males usually stand anywhere from 24"-27" tall, and weigh in the 110-132 pound range. Females are slightly smaller standing 22"-25" tall, and weigh in between 77-105 pounds. Rottweilers of either sex are black with rust to mahogany markings. These markings are typically over the eyes, around the muzzle, on the throat, and around the dogs legs. The coat is thick, short, and hard. Their tails are customarily docked, though this practice is illegal in some parts of the world. A Rottweiler's head is broad between the ears and of medium length, often giving it a bigger blockier look, with triangular ears that are carried forward. The eyes are dark and almond shaped, though some Rotts may have blue eyes, or one blue one dark eye. They have wide noses, as well as lips that are black and close fitting.
Temperament
Rottweiler's are calm, obedient, trainable, eager to work, and devoted to their owner or family. Protective, self-confident, and loyal they will defend their family fiercely if need be, seemingly immune to pain. They are self-assured, steady and fearless, and will react to their surroundings with great alertness. They respond quietly to changes in their environment with a wait-and-see attitude. They are highly intelligent and have proven to be great dogs for police, military, and customs work. This breed needs a lot of socialization and leadership. If properly socialized and trained Rottweilers make great playmates for children, as well as accepting other dogs, cats, and other household pets. Friends of the family are enthusiastically welcomed, and Rotties will often act in a clownish manner towards family members and friends. On the other hand strangers whom the dog sense ill intentions can go no further than the side walk of the Rottie's property.
